Question about the use of "do"
Hi, I am watching a lot of english TV shows with english subtitle nowadays and i have a question about something I saw when i was reading the subtitle. Sometimes they say something like that for example:

I do realize that I hurt you

Why do they use "do"? I mean it's not necesary right? You just can say "I realize that i hurt you"

Answer

It is the form of sentence that is used to emphasise the positive action. It doesn't change the meaning of the sentence except from the emphasis. You can also use it's past form as in " I did realize " for past event.
