What is the meaning of 알겠다 ? What are the differences between 알겠다 and 알았다 ? When and why should we add -겠다 ?
And what is the difference between 갈거예요 and 갈게요 ? Is it just a short-formed or it represents other meanings?

알겠다 simply means "understand or get to know about" and 알았다 means "understood"
갈게요 is just a shortened form of 갈거에요 :)
