Can somebody help me to understand when to use what?

naar - to, for, at, in, from, after

Like said there is no 1 to 1 translation. Prepositions are the most irregular part of languages. You can only learn them by trial and error and memorizing standard expressions. But I can give a few examples.

om - naar

I go to town to buy some clothes.
Ik ga NAAR de stad OM wat kleren te kopen.
