Alcohol (or strictly ethanol C2H5OH) is the chemical in wine an liquor. It is also a general name for alchoholic drinks. "Do you drink alcohol?" Wine is an alcholic drink made from grapes. Liquor normally means a strong alcoholic drink with a high percentage of alcohol - maybe 40% or more. White liquor could be gin, white rum, vodka or other clear spirit.

Liquor是每个酒。Wine只是葡萄酒。 说汉语的时候,如果人只说“酒”,它们的意思经常就是葡萄酒。在英语,它们不一样 (但是葡萄酒是酒的种)。 "Wine“ is "葡萄酒". "Liquor" is "酒". In Chinese, people often mean "葡萄酒" when they say "酒". In English, they're not the same (although wine IS a kind of liquor). 比如,"liquor”能是葡萄酒啦,啤酒啦,威士忌啦,甜酒啦等等 For example, liquor can be wine, beer, whisky, rum etc. 我打算"white liquor"是白酒的翻译。可以就说“Baijiu”吧。 I think "white liquor" is a literal translation of 白酒, a Chinese drink. You can just call it "Baijiu". Or maybe it refers to clear spirits. Or it could have meant "white wine" (白葡萄酒). “Alcohol" technically refers to Ethanol (乙醇), although it's often used as a synonym of 'beverage'.
