How to say "would" in arabic?
Hey, I was wondering how the word would is used in arabic.
For example: He wanted to build a house which would keep warm but he couldn't afford it.
The king's son would have become king but he went to France instead.

It's difficult to find an equivalent for would, it depends on the context, the sentence but I'd say the closest one to would is كان سيكون
Ex: كان سيكون ملكا ان لم يذهب الى فرنسا
= he would've been a king if he didn't go to France
Ex : كنت سأخبرك إن علمت أنه قادم
= I would have told you if I knew he was coming
So it's (verb + كان/ كنت + ســــ)
كان / كنت ... = was. And ســـ means will
Verb ســـ+ فعل = future tense
So it's like a mix between the future and the past (=conditional)
Hope it doesn't make you more confused
