How do you call a waiter gently at a restaurant in French?
Salut! I would love to know how to call a waiter and waitress gently at a restaurant in French.
And would you let me know how to notify them when you sit down on a chair while they are away? Probably raising your hand?
Merci beaucoup! :)

You can raise your hand with a bid smile, you'll be served correctly.
If you want to order something, you just have to call the waiter/tress by saying:
"Excusez-moi"
or saying :
"Monsieur" for the waiter
or
"Mademoiselle" if it's a young waitress
or "Madame" if it's an older waitress.
The quality of the service depend more on the location of the restaurant then the price of the menu:
if it's a tourist restaurant, in Paris, you'll be really badly served.
if it's a stared restaurant, you'll be well served
if it's a modern restaurant in Paris, or a simple restaurant in another city of France, you'll be well served in most of the time.
In rural restaurant, the waiter/waitress are more frendly than in the capital, even if they don't really speak english.
The simplest way to know if you'll be goodly served is to watch the face of the waiter/waitress. Search the smiles ;)
