According to the research, a quarter of people feel that to preserve the environment, there should be strict limits on trips to scenic spots, and four out of ten want to see 4×4s banned from city roads.

4x4 is a vehicle, such as a jeep or range rover. They are big cars, so they use a lot of fuel. They are useful for uneven roads and mud, like in the countryside, but seem unnecessary in the city.
