speak about what it was to be made invisible? 1) We talked for about twenty minutes, long enough for me to observe every minuscule detail about him—the power of his intense eyes and his young sensitivity, the sense that he was just passing through. I would like to know what does "passing through" here mean? Does it mean "rich experience"? Thanks. 2) Mark’s parents had been interned in a concentration camp for Japanese in the United States during World War II, and even though he didn’t know this at the time we were making the movie, he was deeply motivated to speak about what it was to be made invisible. I would like to know what does "speak about what it was to be made invisible" here mean? Thanks.

"passing through" can be either figurative or literal. Literal: If you are moving through a street to go to a building you are just "passing through" the street. Figurative: It is more of an emotional state. It means you are not fully there mentally or emotionally. For example, if you sitting in class just to pass it and have no real interest in it you are just "passing through". From the context, I would say it is figurative :) To "be made invisible" also figurative. To "be made invisible" is to feel that you do not matter and that you are not important. For example, if someone were to ignore you or to ignore your feelings you would feel that you "were made invisible" :)
