Does it means like "Cut the connection with them, and then they can't contact you anymore. In a conclusion, they lose a friend(choice)"?

Yes, pretty much. "Remove yourself from the equation" is vague as to exactly how you remove yourself.

It doesn't say you have to cut connection with them exactly, but at least make sure they know you are not an option for whatever they are considering.
