Hiragana vs Katakana I'm currently learning Japanese language. I've started by learning the Hiragana. I have memorized the characters already including the combination. I'm currently on the process of memorizing the Katakana. I've gained a few Japanese vocabulary thru watching anime. The characters of January in Hiragana and Katakana greatly differs. I can already read Hiragana characters. This is the character for January in Hiragana: いちがつ ---> I-CHI-KA-TSU This is my reading of January in Hiragana characters. But in Katakana, it is written as: 一月 -----> TSUKI My problem lies on what to use? Will I use the Hiragana character reading for my sentences or use the Katakana?
