“Most of it was built years after the Calypso. Whiskey built it, generation by generation, along with the distilleries, the warehouses, the offices.”

Small places to hide something or oneself.

Hidey-holes is a combination of two words. Hide and holes. It refers to places to hide. Also when it says holes, it does not literally mean that it is a hole. It could be a space under the bed or even a cupboard.
