'suite' Bit struggling with this word. Dictionares don't exactly clear it up for me. Can it be used refering to a simple apartament in some hotel? Or has it to be sort of complex of apartaments? Please, explain using your own words. Thanks in advance. (...) Lammar grabbed his shoulder and led him across the suite where the partners introduced themselves.

"suite" generally refers to an office or hotel accommodation that has more than one room.

Just to add to/clarify Judy's explanation: a 'suite' cannot exist independently. A suite is a set of rooms within another entity, such as a hotel or office complex. For example, a suite in a hotel might be a bedroom, bathroom and office or sitting room, all of which would be the private use of one guest or set of guests.

If you see a word with "ui" in it, it likely came from French. The only exception I know of is "build".

You can tell by the spelling that it's not originally an English word. That's why it's spelling and pronunciation are so different.
