There is not any difference. One is a contraction and the other is spelled out completely. Usually English speakers use "can't" in conversation because it is faster and easier to use. Usually when people use "cannot", it's because they are trying to make it clear that something or someone "can NOT" do something.

The meaning is the same. 'Cannot' is used mainly in more formal written English. Note that it is written as all one word - 'cannot' rather than 'can not'. 'Can't' is used in spoken English and in informal and neutral written English.

Can't is the short (and more common form) of can not in speech. Depending on what you are writing you should use 'can not' more often. Hope this helps Bob

Can't is the contraction of cannot. Contractions shorten words. For example, I will can be shortened to i'll, and are not is shortened to aren't. Was that helpful?
