In English, I don't think it is a very good idea. The singing is typically not very clear, and doesn't use very standard language. There are entire websites devoted to 'what I thought they were singing'. People write in the lyrics as they heard them. There are many songs where I have no idea what the singer is singing, even after listening to the song for years.
