꼴 means (terrible or horrible or ashamed ) situation or state or sight.

험한 꼴 = kind of horrible/terrible/ashamed situation 험한 꼴을 당하다 = experience a horrible/ashamed situation FYI, '꼴' has negative nuance. People don't use the word to a good or normal situation, only to a negative, awkward and horrible situation :)
