When to use hanya/saja/cuma? If hanya, saja, and cuma are all translated into "only", what is the proper use of each?

Cuma&Hanya at front *Cuma 3 orang. 1)I only have RM3 Saya cuma ada RM3 Saya hanya ada RM3 2)I love him only Saya cinta dia sahaja/saja BUT If u want to use "cuma/hanya" U say: Saya hanya cinta dia Saya cuma cinta dia

Depends on sentences.. usually "saja" at the back of sentence. 3 people only = 3 orang sahaja/saja 3 people only = Hanya 3 orang :)

hanya kamu di benarkan masuk...kamu saja(sahaya) dibenarkan masuk....cuma kamu dibenarkan masuk they all mean only...hanya almost all the time happen at the beginning of a sentence...cuma also same as hanya... sahaja happen in the middle after a subject... in english 'only' can be anywhere in a sentence..it is only you in my heart... only you can be in my heart... the first is best matched with sahaja/saja and the second one with hanya or cuma...sometime cuma and hanya can happen in the middle but it can give different taste to the sentence..hanya kamu kawan yang saya ada /cuma kamu kawan yang saya ada- its only you the friend i have....kamu hanya kawan saya/kamu cuma kawan saya, tidak lebih dari itu - you are just my friend, not more than that... this last heartbreaking sentence sounds familiar right [emoji][emoji]

Basically, you can use any of them as you wish. HOWEVER, you may realize 'Hanya' is commonly used in books, letters, newspapers and etc (formal);people no longer use Hanya in their conversations nowadays. It may sound too formal, poetic, dramatic and classical to some people too. On the other hand, Saja and Cuma is the one to use to sound less awkward in conversations. To help you differentiate the use of them in general, Saja is usually used at the end of a sentence and Cuma is commonly used at the front. Eg: I only have 1 Ringgit "Saya ada 1 Ringgit saja" "Saya cuma ada 1 Ringgit" Don't worry. You should be able to differentiate them anytime soon now. Try socializing with the natives as those three words are like VERY FREQUENTLY used. It might help you better. Good luck :)
