How do I understand the usage of 'tá' in "aqui tá..." and other expressions?
Hi , can anyone please explain the meaning of " tá"? On google translation, it seems to mean "ok", but this doesn't fit into the translation of "aqui tá" or "ah tá" . Can you also give some other examples of this word and its meaning in each case?

"Tá" is a short for "está" in informal language in Portuguese (it is very used in Brazil). Like "está", the short "tá" can have different meanings according to the context. Examples:
- You said some thing and someone answers you only "Tá." ... This is a short for "Está bem." that means "it's alright" or simply "OK" in English.
- Someone answers you "Ah tá." is like "Oh OK" or "Oh I got it."
- Someone says "Tá aqui." is a short for "Está aqui." that means "It's here".
- You can ask to someone "Você tá bem?" is a short of "Você está bem?" that means "Are you fine?", "Are you OK?" etc.

It's just a shortened pronunciation of está aqui or está bom used in informal conversation (in Brazil at least -- I'm not sure about Portugal).
