do you think writing skill is helpful for speaking skill?
hi, i am Sean from China. my chinese name is ZHAO XIAO.
using the internet, i become a english blogger now. i have a personal com website. i post some professional articles every week.
but in this article , i want to ask you that how you think about the writing and speaking skills.
in fact, i can write english articles everyday. from 800 to 1200 words. but i can not understand bbc or voa voice.
i am afraid that it is my problem not having english talking friends. but i can not find anyone. and i am afraid i make some mistakes in talking.
but i do not worry about that finally. everyone have some mistakes in the first step. if you want to give me help by talking with me. i should thank you very much.o, i forget. writing is helpful for speaking, but not for listening.

I think writing is helpful because it helps you to improve your vocabulary. However it is important to practice actually speaking the language you are learning because your mouth has to get used to the language. For listening I suggest you to see videos on Youtube, like casual videos of people speaking English: it helped me a lot in comprehension. For speaking you have to find someone to speak to: I know, it is hard for me as well, but you can find some tutors here on italki to practice with.

Speaking is a physical skill and physical skill can be improved only by physical activity. As Nadia said, “your mouth has to get used to the language.” For example, you cannot learn how to play tennis by reading about tennis. Reading aloud is also helpful. I taught spoken English to adults in Taiwan for a number of years and one of their daily homework assignments was to read the following days lesson aloud several times at home. They found it helpful. In fact, if I would forget to give the homework assignment, they would request it before leaving.
Aural comprehension (听力) is the same. It is improved by listening. It could be helpful to have a printed version of whatever you are listening to.
