"Ya" and word order in Spanish "Ya" is a peculiar phenomenon in Spanish with many meanings and uses. For instance, one can say "Ya voy" and "ya" adds a sense of immediacy (or latency, depending on where you're from)... However, is it (generally) possible to flip the order to say "Voy ya"? And if yes, is there any change of meaning? My question also extends to other words than "ir", e.g. "Vengo ya", "Sigo de pie ya", "Me levanto ya", "Te conozco ya" - thanks :)

"Ya" can mean either "right away", "i know", or "...already...". I wouldn't say there's much of a big difference between YA VOY or VOY YA. Perhaps the 1st one is closer to "i'm going right away" or "i'm going to do it right away", while the second's meaning might be closer "i'm already going" or "i'm already leaving for getting there". "Me levanto ya" means "i'm ALREADY/RIGHT AWAY going to wake up/stand up", "te conozco ya" would be "i ALREADY know you" but "sigo en pie ya" does not exist. Bear in mind that SIGO means I STILL, while YA's meaning is either ALREADY or RIGHT AWAY...

Normally it sounds better if you say "Ya voy" but actually depends of the verbs. What I want to mean is that sometimes "ya" sounds better if you put it after the verbs and, sometimes it sounds better if you put it before the verbs. I think you'll be able to notice this fact over time. However, I would like to give you an answer, so yes, you might use "Ya" after or before the verb, because people will understand you perfectly: 1.- Ya voy or voy ya. 2.- Ya me levanto or me levanto ya. 3.- Ya lo hice o lo hice ya. 4.- Ya comí or comí ya.

It doesn't matter the order that you use it, it won't change the meaning, but, sounds better if you use it at the start. Also, "ya" could mean "yes" or "stop".
