Both privation and deprivation are synonyms of each other, and it means "a state of extreme poverty". Does that answer it?

Privation is a lack of basic necessities such as housing , food , access to water ,etc.
Deprivation is a denial to the access of something..
>The privations they have to endure is largely due to their deprivation of their rights as a citizen of that country.

Deprivation is blocking access to what you need/want or taking away what you have. Privation' means the lack of things .They can be considered synonyms and they're much the same really.
-Thanks.
