Hi Zachary, You could use „bei“ in some special cases, but it is most often not the best choice to make. For example, you can say in a more informal context “Ich wohne bei Berlin”. That is not wrong but it does not really sound well-educated. As mentioned in some previous answers you can say: “Ich wohne in der Nähe von Berlin.” However, it is not possible to say: "Es gibt viele Länder bei Deutschland." The only way to express it properly is “Es gibt viele Bundesländer in Deutschland”. You can use the preposition “bei” better in sentences like this: “Ich wohne noch bei meinen Eltern.” I still live with my parents”. You could also say: “Ich bin bei meinen Freunden.” (I am with my friends). But be aware of some tricky expressions: “Ich bin bei meinen Freunden”. (I am with my friends). „Ich bin mit meinen Freunden zusammen im Restaurant“. (I am with my friends in the restaurant). Here you have to use “mit” instead of “bei”. Regards, Paul
