Two different meanings of graduate...
People who have graduated from uni are graduates
and people who go to graduate school are graduates.
How do I distinguish the two when I call or hear it?
Also, 'Office of graduate academic affairs'
What sort of place would it be?
Someone asked me and I can't answer..

If they're both graduates, you simply need to ask where the person graduated from. If the name of the institution doesn't give away what type of place it is, you can ask them to clarify.
I don't even know from the top of my head what a graduate school is.

People who have graduated from uni are called graduates. They then can take a post-graduate class. They would be post-graduates. I hope this helps :)
