Special questions with There is / are Hello everyone!) May you tell me if there is any difference between these two sentences: How many students are there in Paul's class? and How many students are in Paul's class? Tell me, please, if we can use them both and there will be the same meaning. Thank you in advance!)

Hi Elena, both sentences work just fine! In my opinion, "How many students are there in Paul's class?" feels more formal, and I would use this in writing, whereas "How many students are in Paul's class?" feels more conversational, which is what I would say to a friend, if I were speaking to her face-to-face.

both sentences have own meaning, the first sentence- How many students are there, in Paul's class? it shows that Mr. paul teaches the student in his class. and the second sentence how many students are in paul's classes? it shows the present of student in his class.

Первое предложение правильное - How many students are there in Paul's class? Второе предложение неправильное, поскольку в нем отсутствует подлежащее there.
