How does one correctly use the particle "的" and "得?" Hello, everyone. I'm hearing different people speak, and I notice they sometimes use a particle of "de." However, some people don't. For example: Native Speaker 1. "我觉得你的英文很好。” Native Speaker 2. "你普通话说得很好。” My question is this: What exactly are the rules regarding "的” and "得?" What parts of a sentence are they meant to connect? The speaker in statement #2 didn't say "的” after "你” in that instance; however, both speakers used "得." Why is that? Is this a regional thing? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. ~Cheers~

It is a curious question. Actually, when I was a child, I have to distinguish "的、得、地“. all they are pronounced as "de". But now the Chinese education department does not ask student to know their differences. But it is easy to know how to use it. When you want to use "de”,you should add a noun after the "的“. like 我的书,我的英语,我的父母。 ”得“ usually is behinds of verbs and front of adverbials, like 笑得欢,跑得快。 ”地” usually is behind of adverbials and front of verbs, like 轻轻地唱,飞快地跑。
