"Ojalá" is a spanish word that comes from the arab expression: "Insha'Allah", which means litteraly "If God/Allah wants". So "ojalá" means "I hope/wish". If it expresses hope or wish about the future, Present subjunctive ("sea") must be used: "Ojalá SEA el presidente el año que viene." (I hope I'm the president next year.) If it expresses wish about the present (hypothesis), "Pretérito Imperfecto de Subjuntivo" ("fuera") must be used: "Ojalá FUERA rico." (If only I were rich./I wish I were rich.)

Ojala fuera means: I wish it (she,he) was If only means: "si tan solo" If only I was: "si tan solo yo fuera" Examples: I wish everything was different. - Ojala todo fuera differente. If only I was more tactical, she would not has left me. - Si tan solo yo fuera más tactico, ella no me hubiera abandonaría. Si tan solo puediera, te regalaría todas las estrellas del cielo. - If only I could, I would gift you all the stars from the sky. I hope it is clear now. If there is anything else you donot understand, please, feel free to ask me. Have a nice day.

Hm, your question has intrigued me. Now I'm trying to understand what it means too. Is this phrase used standalone, or is it usually used in a sentence? Like: Ojala fuera así, or Ojala fuera amable. Let me know if you learn anything!!!!
