An "eyewitness" is a witness who directly witnesses an event with their own eyes. They were there, at the time, and saw what was going on. Other witnesses may help with evidence of what they heard or what they know about a situation but eyewitnesses usually provide the most reliable evidence on what actually happened.

- Eyewitness is a person who actually sees some act, occurrence, or thing and can give a firsthand account of it .
- Witness is just to see, hear, or know by personal presence and perception or to be present at (an occurrence) as a formal witness, spectator, bystander, etc.. .
