what is the difference between these two sentences?

I would like to eat an hamburger.
I would eat an hamburger.

I would like to + verb
I would + verb

I agree with Michael’s comment. The second one you might use in a sentence like this: If I were given the choice between a hamburger and a hot dog, I would eat a hamburger.

I would like to eat a hamburger ( not "an") sounds like you are ordering or making a statement/preference.
I would eat "a" hamburger sounds more like a hypothetical statement.
