who can tell me how can i learn phonetic symbols well ?
i just want to pronounce words well,so i must learn phonetic symbols well
but now i am not sure whether my pronunciation is right !
for example , "defend" should be pronounced [di'fend] ,but how can i get the right pronunciation of [d] [i] [f] [e] [n]?
is there any website or books?

unfortunately some words are an exception to the rule but try this dictionary site

you can type in the word and listen to it's pronunciation, hope it helps.
