Classic question about accepting compliments in Chinese
So, when you are learning Chinese or trying to speak this language, Chinese people always say that your Chinese is good/extremely good and so on. I have been searching for a proper answer to this and have come up with this list. I want to ask native speakers to confirm, whether my findings and thoughts are accurate enough.
哪里哪里 and 过奖了 — these options are a bit too formal and also outdated, it is better to avoid using them,
谢谢 — English “thanks” adopted by Chinese speakers, appropriate option for communication with youngsters,
And other examples, that sounds OK to me:
还不够好
还有要学习的地方 // 我还有很多要学 // 我还有很多可以学
还差得远呢 我的路还很长
我不是那么好
那我中文老师特别好
谢谢你的夸奖,但是我离我的目的太很远 - this one feels like modern 过奖了, because it is a bit more sophisticated, that the other ones, listed above.

just say "谢谢你的夸奖, 我会继续努力“ is ok. sounds modest and motivated.

I won't say those formal expressions are considered outdated. It depends on whom you are speaking to and under what circumstances. You need to know the cultural settings/behaviour/norms when learning any language. Chinese hate to "lose face". But of course, they will give leeway to you being a foreigner but knowing how to use them will greatly impress them. They won't give me as much leeway, if you know my drift.

哪里哪里 sounds quite native. I will say you can still use this one.
过奖了 — It is a little too formal and outdated, in my opinion.
谢谢 — This should be the most common and appropriate way to respond.
还不够好 - sounds fine to me.
还有要学习的地方 // 我还有很多要学 // 我还有很多可以学 - They are all good to use.
还差得远呢 - This should be fine but I will not use it myself. (the translation looks like: not even close).
我的路还很长 - This sounds weird. I suggest not to use it.
我不是那么好 - I suggest be corrected as 我的中文沒有那麼好 (My Chinese is not that good)
那我中文老师特别好 - corrected as 那是因為我的老師教得好 (That's because I have a good Chinese teacher)
谢谢你的夸奖,但是我离我的目的太很远 - corrected as 謝謝(你的誇獎),但是我離我的目標還很遠 - Thank you for your compliment, but there is still a long way to go (to reach my goal) - sounds fine but it is a bit formal/ lengthy to me.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,

Classic expression is never outdated. The thoughts on the words you've wrriten is absolutely right. Being classic means being high educated in China. Why did you think it was outdated? Being avoid to use them will be a worst choice you've made. The master with a good command of Chinese langugage usually use the least words to express more information acurately. There is a long way to go for you in Chinese study.

Hi!
So yeah that's really thoughtful of you to categorize all these replies lol they look decent.
As a native speaker I would say most of the time people say this as an act of surprise or as a nice way of greeting you. (Like saying ah you look great) so it really doesn't matter that much what you reply. You could go with an easy 哈哈还好啦谢谢 or any of the replies you listed above XD what you've listed are all really great replies! And you're notes on them are absolutely correct.
Btw did you mean to say 离我的目标还很远instead of 太很远?
