I want someone helps me with Morphology I'm studying English language and I'm not native speaker of English language so I have difficulties in studying Morphology. How can I study this material? I can't differentiate the base from the bound. How can I know this word is a base morpheme or bound morpheme?

What is the name of your textbook? The base morpheme is also commonly known as a root. The bound morpheme is also commonly known as an affix (prefix, infix, or suffix). I work. work = base morpheme; Joe works. work = base; -s bound morpheme (third person singular) Joe worked. work = base; =ed bound morpheme (completed action [perfective aspect]) Joe is working. work = base; -ing bound morpheme (incomplete action [imperfective aspect])

@Moe - there was no need to be rude. Do you realise you were being rude? @Layla - being a native speaker probably is irrelevant. Most native speakers have no idea about this. It is very technical.

Do you have any course book about it? If not, I'd recommend you try to find a good introductory book to Linguistics (or English linguistics) they will have one chapter about morphology and it should help you a lot. To make it short, a free morpheme is one that you can find alone eg. friend a bound morpheme is one that adds meaning to another morpheme, eg. -s to add plural: friends or -ly to change the grammatical category: friendly of course there's more to it but I'm sure you can find material, do not hesitate to ask me if you have questions I would try to help. And yes, your question makes sense, there's no mistakes
