is the last 'jiu' in the third sentance an emphatic word or in reference to alcohol?
Lao Bai: Lao Yuan, ni hao. Wo zhidao ni ai he jui. Zhe shi gei nide jiu.
Hello Lao Yuan. I know you love a drink. This is for you.

jiu = 酒 = alcoholic beverage
这是给你的酒 = this drink (alcoholic beverage) is for u
nothing wrong with this sentence, it is a very authentic chinese sentence with the exception that it is in pinyin. pinyin is not chinese. so i'm in total accordance with cherry's suggestion, u might want to consider beginning learning chinese characters to avoid future confusion or for better understanding of chinese.

Hello James.
It refers to "alcohol", although I think there is something wrong with this sentence.
Zhe shi gei nide jiu .
"This is for your drink"?!? sounds wrong?!
It is either:
- Zhe shi gei ni > This is for you
- zhe shi nide jiu > This is your drink
- or zhe shi gei ni..jiu! > This is for you ..drink
In that case , " jiu" might be used as an emphatic word spoken with emphasis and sounding like irrelevant to the rest of the sentence.
If you had the hanzi text it would be easier to recognize the character.
Anyways some Chinese native might give you a better answer here!
