Does this sound strange? If your read this heading: "On goofs, smarty-pants and smart-asses", does it sound strange? Is it possible to use "smarty-pants and smart-asses" as synonyms or do they just mean the same? Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't really use this as a heading. It does not really make sense, especially when you use them all together. You may have been trying to use informal language, but I have not clue what you are talking about. "On goofs" is a particularly strange construction. Explain what you wish to say in a p/m, and I can assist.

A smarty-pants is a know-it-all who is always showing how smart he or she is. A smart-ass is someone who makes rude, cutting, or sarcastic comments. So they are different
