As or than Hi! I have a grammar exercise, and I don't know which one is correct of these: a) Oxford is the same distance from London as Brighton. b) Oxford is the same distance from London than Brighton. I would say that it's a). But according to the answer key it's b). But I don't understand why and how it can be the correct answer? Can you give me an explanation? Thank you in advance!

Choice a is correct. There are many bad English books and bad practice exams. Find a book from the USA or from Britain such as English Grammar in Use by Murphy. Paper copies are reasonably priced and a Google search will find a PDF. See Murphy unit 107 Comparison 3 (as ... as / than).

The answer is 'b'. "same" is always collocated with "as".
