A question about the strange sound here The question is to native speakers: do you hear in the following part "liked to kill", but not "likes to kill" or you can only guess not paying much attention to the ending? The text as we can get it is: "James had only seen these creatures in books before. They were called velociruptors, and they we dinosaurs which liked to kill in groups..." https://drive.google.com/open?id=1jlB2qJ-O3c3U43JUVGvztOrN1g9-Llyl But I definitely hear "which LIKES TO KILL", which is not correct, of course. Probably, the trick is because the /D/ in "liked" is a bit dropped out for speed with immediate following strongly fricatived /T/. Any your guess?

I definitely hear "liked" although it is not very clear. Perhaps I am auto correcting because of the context.

Thanks, John. I'll bear that in mind. I feel I've noticed that sometimes people have their tongues twisted a little bit in a strange way while speaking about something fast and vigorously.

He said liked and then put an s as if he changed his mind about which word to say. It is not uncommon for everybody to do this at times.

Thanks, Chris. Probably it is.

There is an audible /s/. Could just be a careless slip.
