devote vs dedicate? is there any difference between these two?

You can "devote" your time or energy to a cause you believe in or a person. It is a phrasal verb.
devote something/yourself to something/someone
She was devoted to her children.
He had devoted his life to saving the whale from extinction.
You can also use "dedicate" in a similar way. Dedicate is a verb.
He dedicated his life to helping the poor.
You can also use dedicate when you do something in honour to something or someone.
This book is dedicated to my best friend Andrea, who helped me overcome my illness.
The performance tonight is dedicated to the many heroes in the fire service.
