# 3 'grottos' and 'caves' is it the same thing? 1) 'grottos' and 'caves' is it the same thing? 2) I need to match the heading to the text. I simply don't understand. The text has "exploring the underground world of caves in Alabama or Georgia" activity in it. However, there's no info on whether "campers can descend into the grottos and observe them". That said, nothing else fits better than this. 11 ________ These camps offer participants the opportunity to experience several different outdoor adventures during their weeklong program. Activities may include: rock climbing at one of Alabama’s own secluded climbing areas; airing in the Appalachian Mountains of Georgia, Tennessee, or North Carolina; exploring the underground world of caves in Alabama or Georgia, learning the basics of whitewater kayaking on a local whitewater river, and/or whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River in Tennessee! No experience necessary for this adventure of a lifetime! Please refer to the enclosed chart for potential locations and planned activities for each session of this camp… activities WILL vary according to session. A participants can enjoy an adventurous water ride in spring В campers can descend into the grottos and observe them C a camping trip is included in the program of activities D participants will get acquainted with scuba diving E only two outdoor activities are on offer F all necessary things will be carried by animals G campers will be pleased with the perfect sightseeing H experience is necessary for the adventures

A grotto is a type of cave. A grotto can be the size of a car, or a house, but not much bigger than that. They can be natural or man-made. A grotto feels open and comfortable. You would never feel like you were going to get trapped inside a grotto. You can even have a grotto INSIDE a cave. Let's pretend we were crawling through a very tight cave that went deep into the Earth, after a mile of crawling and twisting our bodies through the narrow pathway we become tired. You look ahead and you see a large opening which leads into a comfortable "room". You say "Karl, let's rest in that grotto". Of course, you could have said "let's rest in that cave" and I would have understood you, but to my English ear the word grotto sounds comfortable or even beautiful. The word cave sounds dark and dangerous.

I heard grottoes are kind of caves, and they are more often artificially made. I am not quite sure, though.
