Mental Fog and Scrambled Thinking Can I use "mental fog" to describe a person who is absent-minded, or it is a disease that I can't use in normal life? What's the meaning of "scrambled thinking"? I have seen word used to describe a negative situation but I also seen it used in the mediation context. Therefore, I felt confused about the usage of this phrase.

Hello, Irene! "Brain fog" or "mental fog" is a term used in medicine denoting an abnormality in the regulation of the overall level of consciousness. So I suppose you can't use it for just an absent-minded person. "Scrambled thinking" or "Scrambled thoughts" these are mixed up, confused or tangled thoughts.

Mental fog doesn't really describe absent minded. Some individuals are absent minded by nature it may be developing some kind of mental impairment. Mental fog converts a situation of temporary impairment and is likely caused by an acute illness or intoxication. All this said mental fog is not a technical term.
