Does “ envy someone “ mean the same as “ be jealous of someone “?
I wonder if “envy someone “ has more of a positive connotation, while “ be jealous of someone “ has a negative connotation.
How about “ be envious of someone “ ?
Can you tell me how to tell these expressions apart? Thanks

Jealousy and envy can mean the same thing.
A feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck.
However jealousy has another meaning: a resentful suspicion that one's partner is attracted to or involved with someone else.
