Please explain ☹
She has a conception of people as being basically good.
Is the word "being" used here as gerund? If so, can I use infinitive (to be) here?

Yes, gerund. To be - being.
I am human..... . Thus being human, I am familiar with …… that the author wrote.
Being human, we sympathise with those people suffering the virus....

Hello Hasib, the above sentence is grammatically correct but if you want to use infinitive ‘to be’ I would simply say ‘she perceives people TO BE inherently/basically good’. Alternatively, 'she believes that people are inherently good' or 'she sees people as basically good'.
