I read this sentence in a story, however, I did not understand why they use "viven" in this sentence. I don't quite understand the literal translation.

"In Enrique's house, (they????) live his father, mother, 4 siblings, and him."

"En la casa de Enrique viven" it's similar to say in English, In the house of Enrique, there are 4 or 5 people living with him,

You can't compare Spanish to English.  They are two different languages.  Spanish has way more flexibility with sentence structure.  You can say,

Viven ellos en esa casa. 
En esa casa viven ellos.
Ellos viven en esa casa.
Viven en esa casa ellos.
En esa casa ellos viven,
etc
