Some English sentence that I can't understand. Hi. I was playing 'gta5' and I found out some sentences that I can't translate 1. It's gonna be a shame when we get to book his ass and jack him for all this shit. -> I can't understand what "book his ass" and "jack him" mean 2. you definitely hit up inside. -> I can't understand what "hit up inside" means. On the subtitles, it was translated into "you are a changed man" in my language. Is it correct translation? 3. Stretch, you got your fucking nerves given your history. -> I can't understand what "get nerves" means 4. After his bit, it probably need tightening up. -> I can't understand what "bit" means in this sentence. In the subtitles, "after his bit" was translated into "after you came out of the prison". Is it correct? I need your help native speakers !!

I don't play computer games, let alone GTA, though I have seen it. Let me have a crack (a go/ an attempt): 1 To 'book his ass' is to book a person, fine them, like police do when we speed, etc. "Jack him" might mean something like 'to blame him for' or 'charge him as responsible' for the crimes. 2. A bit of a guess, but 'hit up inside' would mean something like 'strike a chord', resonate, to be affected inside/emotionally. 3. To 'get nerves' is to become bold/courageous. I.e. you have got some cheek/some boldness, given how badly a previous situation turned out. 4. it could be 'prison time' or similar punishment. After some event (situation/prison/etc) then he needed to be fixed/come back to normal. Something like that. Obviously slang, but you get the meaning from the context.

Phillip did a great job of answering your questions, but I can add a "bit" more. 1. To "Jack Him" usually means to rob or to steal from, usually using a weapon of some sort. It can also mean to "mess" with or interfere with their belongings in some negative way. 2. When someone is said to have a lot of "fucking nerve" it means they did something to make that other person angry. To have "nerve" is usually a good thing. Like having "courage". "It takes a lot of nerve to jump from a plane." But to become overconfident, arrogant, do something without worrying about how it effects the other person, or intentionally make someone angry, is to have "fucking nerve". 4. A "bit" is a small increment, like a "bit of time", a "bit of knowledge", a "bit of cake", and so on. So maybe the 'noble" character in this scenario (insert sarcasm) spent a "bit of time" in prison? You might have more success translating American Slang if you use this website called: "Urban Dictionary". https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=The%20Urban%20Dictionary
