What is the difference between 'consequence' and 'implication'?

“Consequences” means something that happens as a direct result of some action. “Implications” means something that you conclude as a result of some action or information.

Implication has multiple definitions, one of which means "A likely consequence of something" (so it's very similar but slightly different. They are close enough to be used as synonyms in that exact definition.

To understand the difference, look at what the words are made of:
* con-sequence = con (together) and sequence (a number of things happening after each other) so it means that a consequence happens together with other things and so if you have one, you have the other too.
* Implication comes from the verb imply, which is to strongly suggest without actually saying it. So it's not 100% certain. And so an implication of an action is something that is suggested that will happen as a result of that action... but it's not 100% certain.
