Hello Tina, Another possibility would be to invite some online foreign friends over to visit your city in China or you visit theirs. You can spend times with them, temporarily sure but would be a great experience for you.

if you live in touristic place it is easy. once i met with a french guy in the tramway.. but you should be sociable, talkative, gutsy etc.. Good luck

If you work in a hotel or company that has a lot of overseas connections then it's easier to strike up a simple conversation about the weather and let the friendship develop.
