Don't make a storm in a tea cup.... If someone is exaggerating or taking a situation out of it's real proportion is making a "storm in a tea cup" .Means to see events bigger than they really are... giving them a huge but unnecessary dimension... ^^

The expression in American English is usually "tempest in a teapot". It refers to something that has been exaggerated out of proportion, for example, a heated disagreement over a minor matter.

Imagine a fierce storm, yet so tiny it could fit in a teacup. That's how important the disagreement (or controversy) is, in the bigger picture.

a situation where people get very angry or worried about something that is not important. Ex: I think it's all a storm in a teacup - there is probably no danger to public health at all.
