Chinese is easy. There are only about 3 characters in the Chinese language. :P

That depends on how many you already know. If you know 2'000, then there are lots more than that. If you know 20'000, then there are still lots more than that.

I think it is not important to know the total number of them, because some words are do not often be used. I think to master the most useful words is important.
