i have a car: i don't have a car
do you have a car? no. i dont have.
i have got a car: i haven't got a car.
have you got a car? no. i haven't got a car.
i have had a good night: i haven't had a good night.
have you had a good night? no, i haven't.

I don't have/I do not have/ I have:
precedes a NOUN (expresses possession)
(I have a dog. I don't have a dog.)
I haven't/ I have not/ I have:
precedes a VERB/ PAST PARTICIPLE
(I have spoken. I haven't spoken.)
***English speakers also often say "have got" or "haven't got" to express possession. Although this occurs, it is grammatically incorrect.
Ex: I've/ I have got a ticket to the movie. (<<incorrect) I have a ticket to the movie.(<<<correct)

-you say I haven't when someone asks you about if you have done something so it's about verbs
for example: have you traveled to Italy? you say "No,I haven't"
- you say I don't have when someone asks you if you have something.
for example: do you have some food? you say "No, I don't have"
so "I haven't" is for "Have you.." while " I don't have" is for "do you have.."
