The pictures are of al-Mutanabbi Street in Baghdad. This is not just any street; in fact it is more of an outdoor bookstore. al-Mutanabbi, after whom this unusual street is named, is a 10th-century Arab poet regarded by many as one of the greatest, most prominent and influential poets in the Arabic language. The picture on the right shows the statue of him built at at the end of the Street beside the Tigris river. Upon entrance, you will be faced with the marvelous view of the street filled with bookstores and outdoor book stalls.

What an amazing post! Thanks @Furqan. Al-Mutanabi owned an extraordinary talent and many of his poems are still quoted by people in every day life. My favorite poem is مغاني الشعب in which he adorned his poem with sweet images. This verse is my favorite: ولم أرَ في عيوب الناسِ عيبُُ كنقص القادرين على التمامِ
