What does the word "yield" mean? I've checked on my dictionary but i am still confused.

This word means different things, but here are popular examples you might see.
"The driver must yield to pedestrians before turning right." => When you are driving a car you must wait (yield) until all people (pedestrians) have crossed the road, before you make a right turn"

"Working hard will yield good results" => Working hard at something will produce (yield) good results"

It has two meanings:
1) to produce or provide (often used in agriculture and finance). “This field will yield 5 tonnes of grain”. “The yield on this investment is low”.
2) to give way or to give in, particularly in things like arguments or to demands. “If you yield to my current demands I will reconsider what I said earlier”
I would say it is formal or technical word rarely used in everyday speech.
