From March 1st to March 4th, my husband and I went to Hokkaido by plane and rental car to take photos of steam locomotives. We woke up at 4:30 AM, left home at 5:30 AM, and headed to Chubu International Airport. We arrived at Chitose Airport at 10:00 AM. It was snowing and foggy. We drove about 300 kilometers to Kushiro City in four hours without traffic jams and arrived smoothly. At 2:00 PM, we had a late lunch of pork bowl, which was rich and tasty. Then, my husband took photos of the steam locomotive until after 4:00 PM. In the evening, we went to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant and enjoyed a lot of big, fresh sushi. At night, I went to a hot spring for the first time since my breast cancer surgery. I was worried about my surgery scars, but stretching out in the large bath felt good. It was nice that we had the hot spring to ourselves, as there were no other guests. Hearing that all flights from Chitose Airport were canceled due to dense fog in the afternoon, I was relieved we had arrived in Hokkaido in the morning.
