The best way for your mistakes to be corrected during a session

It's better for your partner/teacer to have something in front of him to write down the main mistakes that you make, and he should let you speak until you are done or until you both finish discussing an idea and only then should he or she draw your attention to your mistakes.

This way is much better than interrupting you many times to correct you. And of course, it is better than ignoring your mistakes completely without any guide.

It is important that your partner/teacher just pick out the main mistakes that you made, not all of them unless you are an advanced learner. You should come away from each session with no more than two or three different areas to focus on.

Be sure to write down these mistakes and corrections. And next time you have the chance to speak, try to use these words or sentences correctly. After you learn the proper way to use them, practice them every now and then until you can use them naturally and unconsciously.

do you agree with that?

wonderful tips to make a good language partnership/studying with a teacher

It is great when you have a native language partner to practice your target language with. Speaking with natives is the best way to improve your speaking skills - if you do it properly. However, many learners complain that they have native language partners and yet they don’t improve much. In my opinion if you have a language partner but you feel that you haven’t improved much it is probably because you are doing it the wrong way.

The most important tips from my prospective are:
1-Try to make a long-term partnership.

it is better to focus on studying with one good partner regularly for a long period of time rather than studying for a while and stopping and having to find another language partner.

2- Just use the target language

It is much better for you and your partner to make this point very clear. During your session you should be using just your target language and during your partner's session, you will be using his target language.

3- Prepare the topic of the conversation beforehand.

This point will make your sessions more productive than if you always choose a random topic at the beginning of the conversation.

4-   Use what you have learned

You must start using the new vocabulary and expressions, which you have learned, deliberately as often as possible until you transfer them to your active vocabulary.

what do you think? what are your own tips to get the most of studying with a teacher or a partner?

Be aware of the difference between لم، لمَّا، ما

In Arabic, we use either ما or لم to negate the verb in past. for example:

(هل قَرَأَتَ الكِتابَ؟...( لا ما قَرَأْتُ الكتاب

which equals =

(لا، لَمْ أَقْرَأْ الكتاب)

(have you red the book? .. No, I haven't read it)

Notice that after لَمْ. we use the verb in present form although it's past in meaning.

when should we we use لَمَا as an alternative to لمْ , but the meaning is a little bit different.

هل قَرَأَتَ الكِتابَ؟...لا، لم أَقْرَأ الكتاب (that means you didn't read it or haven't read it)

هل قَرَأَتَ الكِتابَ؟...لا، لمَّا أَقْرَأ الكتاب ( that means you haven't read it yet , but it's expected that you will read it )

هل ذّهّبْتَ إلى الطَّبيبِ أمْسِ؟ ... لا ، لم أذْهَبْ إلى الطبيب أمس

هل ذهبت إلى الطبيب؟ ... لا، لمَّا أذْهَبْ إلى الطبيب (  i n this sentence, you possibly or probably will go )

Sometimes we use the word: بَعْدُ which means yet.

 هل سَافَرْتَ إلى مِصْرَ ؟ ... لا، لَمَّا أُسافر إلى مِصر بَعْدُ

Have you traveled to Egypt? ... No. I haven't  traveled to Egypt yet

( that means you might have told a friend that you have the intention to travel to Egypt and after a while when he had met you, he asked you that question and you used لَمّا  because you still have the intention to go there.
